Supporting
Angles
Here's
a great fun exercise which practices ball controll,
passing, first touch and movement OFF
the ball into supporting positions.
Mark
out a 10m square and place one player on three of the four
corners. Give the ball to the player on the corner that has a
player on each cone either side of them. Place another player in the
middle of the square.
Players on the
cones
try to keep the ball away from the player in the middle. The coach
should ensure that after each pass - the player with the ball has
a supporting player on the cones either side of them. Players need
to get to these supporting positions asap - and that requires
reading of the game and movement off the ball AS it is being passed
- NOT after.
