Aston Villa duo Stephen Warnock and Stewart Downing have a chance of making England’s World Cup squad, according to boss Martin O’Neill.
The Villans could be shaping up to have a sizable contingent in Fabio Capello’s 23-man party, with Emile Heskey, Gabriel Agbonlahor, James Milner and Ashley Young all hoping for inclusion.
O’Neill told the Birmingham Mail: “I’ve said this before, surely there must be places up for grabs that the England manager is not completely decided upon?
“Stephen has been hovering around the squad just recently and that’s good news and Stewart, of course, has been out with injury but I think Capello thought a lot of him beforehand anyway.
“All of those things will encourage them.”
