Alex McLeish insists that it will be his decision on potential new signings at Birmingham City following Carson Yeung’s takeover.
The Blues boss has been promised funds to spend by the club’s new owner in January but the former Scotland boss is adamant that he will get the players he wants, rather than chasing big-name, big-money superstars seeking a bumper pay-day.
McLeish has made his comments following the verdict in Alan Curbishley’s legal battle with West Ham for constructive dismissal over the club’s buying policy.
“I think it will be important I have the final say but I have been assured that that is the case,” said McLeish. “It is topical after what happened with Alan Curbishley but I have had assurances. I pick the players that will enhance the team.
“If there are players that Carson or people in China have identified that we can look at then I am all for that.
“We have to be open-minded to have a look at one or two players. We may agree on something on a player but I want the final say.”
