Alex McLeish has said he plans to speak to Manchester City about keeping goalkeeper Joe Hart at Birmingham for at least another season.
World Cup hopeful Hart has played an important part in Blues’ run to the top 10 of the Premier League and quarter-finals of the FA Cup during an impressive loan spell.
McLeish is convinced the England international will not want to go back to Eastlands to be Shay Given’s understudy and has told chief executive Michael Dunford to try and extend his stay at St Andrews.
McLeish said: “We spoke to City a couple of months ago. Joe has had no contact from them and we’ve had no contact.
“But I know I’ve put into the system that our chief executive should be talking to City about next season.
“If I can’t get Hart permanent, would I settle for another loan season? Yes.”
