Blackburn captain Ryan Nelsen will find out the full extent of the knee injury he suffered against Bolton in the next 24 hours.
The New Zealand international defender was forced out of the action as Rovers boosted their chances of Premier League survival by beating Wanderers 3-0 at Ewood Park on Sunday.
Boss Sam Allardyce told the club’s website: “I’m hoping that he’s twisted his ankle and not his knee.
“But he was holding his knee which was the big problem for me and I think it’s one where he’s had surgery before.”
New Zealand coach Ricki Herbert will be watching developments closely with the World Cup finals a matter of months away.
