Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has hinted that he will look to add two more players to his squad but has ruled out a major spending spree. The Black Cats chief was well backed in the summer transfer market and brought in the likes of Darren Bent, Lorik Cana and Lee Cattermole among others. Bruce has been linked with the Middlesbrough trio of Adam Johnson, Gary O'Neil and David Wheater recently, but he is wary of adding too many new faces to his ranks at the Stadium of Light. He said: “I've not really looked, if I'm honest, because the big clubs don't usually have a shuffle in January. "I could do with perhaps just a couple more bodies, but then managers are always going to say that! "The one thing I never want to do is work with a huge squad - that's why I wanted to trim this one when I came here. If there's anybody available who I think can improve us then I will ask the question. "But I'm really happy with the balance of the squad as it stands at the moment." Sunderland are currently sitting just outside the top six following Saturday's win over Arsenal which suggests they probably only need a fine-tune during the mid-season window.
