Nicolas Anelka has dropped his biggest hint yet that he would be willing to spend the rest of his career at Chelsea.
The much-travelled France striker has just 17 months left on his contract at Stamford Bridge and reports have suggested talks aimed at extending his stay in west London have stalled.
The 30-year-old has played for eight different cubs in a nomadic career but finally feels he has found a home with the Premier League leaders.
“I said when I first arrived at Chelsea that I wanted to stay here,” he told his club’s official website. “Now I have reached more games than I did with my career at other clubs it’s good because I’m really happy.”
Anelka, who is likely to start against his old club Arsenal on Sunday, added: “I have been at big clubs before but when I signed for Chelsea I came back to a big club. I had been looking for that and when I arrived at Chelsea I knew I would want to stay for a long time.”
