Florent Malouda is confident Chelsea can continue to sit atop the Premier League until the end of the season despite their recent poor run of form.
The Blues haven’t won in their last four matches in all competitions and haven’t been able to repeat the dominant type of display we saw in the 3-0 victory over Arsenal at the end of November.
It was at this time last year when Chelsea suffered a dip in form, Luiz Felipe Scolari losing his job after such a promising start to the season.
France international Malouda says he is determined to make sure the same thing doesn’t happen again and believes the Chelsea players will have learnt from the disappointment of last year.
“If you make a mistake once, you have to learn from it, and that’s what we are trying to do. That’s why we are reacting,” said Malouda.
“We are not worried, because we are experienced. We started the season at a champions’ pace and we knew that there would be a moment when we lost points.
“We are aware that this is not good enough, but we have to stay confident in the way we train and the way we play.”
Malouda and the rest of the Chelsea players will be hoping they can get things back on track with victory over bottom club Portsmouth on Wednesday night.
