Former Birmingham City owners David Gold and David Sullivan have completed a takeover of West Ham and insist that Gianfranco Zola’s job is safe.
Joint-chairmen Gold and Sullivan, both Hammers supporters, have thrashed out a deal to secure the future of the Premier League club, with Karen Brady appointed as vice-chairman.
Sullivan has admitted that West Ham need to strengthen their squad during January’s transfer window, as they look to fight off the threat of relegation – with the Hammers currently fifth from bottom.
The new owners have revealed that they have a ‘seven-year plan’ to get West Ham into the Champions League, but accept that it will take a lot of hard work and plenty of funds to achieve their targets.
Sullivan stated: “We're taking on a huge task at a club with enormous problems and it will take time for us to turn it around.”
