Sir Alex Ferguson has moved to distance himself from reports suggesting Manchester United are lining up a move for CSKA Moscow goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev. Ferguson will get a first-hand look at Russia international Akinfeev when United travel to the Russian capital to take on their Group B opponents in the Champions League on Wednesday. Reports suggest the highly-rated 23-year-old has been earmarked as a long-term successor to 38-year-old Edwin Van der Sar because of doubts surrounding Ben Foster's hopes of replacing the Dutch veteran. However, Ferguson reacted by insisting he had no interest in "rumour" and was more than happy with Foster and fellow understudy Tomasz Kuszczak. "I can't deal with rumour because we have two very good young goalkeepers at the club at the moment in Kuszczak and Foster and the future lies with them," said Ferguison, ahead of Wednesday's clash. "When Edwin Van der Sar finally decides to retire I'm quite confident these players can take over."
