Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon is the latest player to become a long-term absentee for his side, with Black Cats boss Steve Bruce fearing Gordon will be out until February with a broken arm. Gordon suffered the injury in Sunderland's final game before the international break at Tottenham, following a challenge by striker Jermain Defoe. The Scotland international had reclaimed his place in the Sunderland team following a knee injury, and Bruce has cursed his side's luck now that Gordon has joined Lee Cattermole as a long-term absentee. "Craig's injury is the most disappointing thing to come out of the last couple of weeks," Bruce told the club's official website. "It looks as if it's going to be three months. We've not had much luck in that respect - that's two serious injuries in a month." Marton Fulop has been tipped to take Gordon's place, but Bruce has also challenged youngster Trevor Carson to push for the No.1 spot. Bruce added: "Marton's been there and done it before, but Trevor has a chance to stake his claim, too. "I was impressed with the way he handled himself in pre-season, so it's not a foregone conclusion that I'm going to pick Marton. Trevor has a chance to come in, too." But it's not all been bad luck for Bruce, with Bolo Zenden and John Mensah hoping to return for Saturday's game against Arsenal.
