West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola is tipped to try and sign strikers Robbie Keane and Benni McCarthy to get the Hammers away from the relegation zone. Italian boss Zola has money to spend after this week’s takeover by former Birmingham City owners David Sullivan and David Gold, and new options up front are a priority for the club. Zola has been without England’s Carlton Cole recently while Dean Ashton was forced to retire earlier in the campaign which hit the Hammers badly. But there could be light at the end of the tunnel with Republic of Ireland captain Keane and South Africa World Cup hopeful McCarthy, of Tottenham and Blackburn respectively, both linked with moves to Upton Park. On a possible swoop for McCarthy, Gold said: “He would be a good acquisition if that could be achieved. So it's a possibility, but all strikers that are available are possibilities."
