Hull manager Phil Brown would not get into "second guessing" how long he expects luckless midfielder Jimmy Bullard to be out of action with his latest knee injury.
KC Stadium favourite Bullard, who only returned to action in October after an eight-month lay-off, left Villa Park close to tears in the first half of the Tigers' 3-0 defeat at Aston Villa on Saturday and was replaced by Craig Fagan.
Brown revealed the latest injury is to Bullard's left knee and not his right, which has required two major operations during his career.
"On the positive front, it's the other knee," Brown told the official club website.
He added: "On a negative front, we can't answer the question until we have a complete diagnosis. There is no point in me second guessing what is going to happen over the next 24-48 hours.
"We'll have more, hopefully good, news on Monday."
