Rafael Benitez has said he expects goalkeeper Jose Reina and midfielder Javier Mascherano to commit their futures to Liverpool.
Spain international Reina and Argentina spoiler Mascherano were heavily linked with moves from Merseyside at the start of a disappointing season for the Premier League top-four hopefuls.
An upturn in results and manager Benitez is now confident that two senior members of his squad are ready to sign long-term contracts at the club.
“Everything is very close and no problems,” said the Spaniard, who himself was targeted by Serie A club Juventus to take over this summer.
“I think we will have news about Reina and Mascherano very soon and that will be very positive for the future.”
