Jamie Carragher has insisted he would have no problem leaving Liverpool if he isn’t offered a new contract by the Reds hierarchy.
The 32-year-old will have just one-year left on his current deal at the end of the season and there are rumblings at Anfield that Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez may be prepared to let Carragher walk.
The versatile defender made his 600th appearance for the Reds earlier this season but has had to play much of the season at right-back rather than his favoured centre-back position.
Negotiations have yet to begin about a renewal, although that might change come in the summer depending where Liverpool finish in the Premier League.
With Benitez already admitting that he is prepared to let Fabio Aurelio leave there is a chance Carragher might also be allowed to walk, despite his years of service on Merseyside.
Carragher has now hinted that if he is let go then he would have no problem joining another club.
“The club will give me a new contract if they want to,” said Carragher.
“If not it doesn’t matter, I’ll still play my best and if I have to move then I’ll move, no problem. It wouldn’t bother me.”
Carragher has a history of making bold decisions, having retired from international football after growing frustrated with his lack of opportunities.
He continued: “I made the England decision quickly and didn’t dwell on it, and I’m not scared of making big decisions.
“It’s a club thing. It’s down to them. I’ll keep playing and see where it takes me.”
