Asian Handicap ideal for Hull

A change of manager is often perceived to bring about a change of form and an upturn in a club’s fortunes.

Manchester City fans seem happy with Roberto Mancini, since he took over from Mark Hughes but is the Mancini era as rosy as it’s being painted?

Only visits to Blackburn, Portsmouth and Wolves have seen City gain three away points this season – two of those victories coming under Hughes. The recent league trip to Everton highlighted their vulnerability away from home when they were comprehensively beaten 2-0.

The visit to the KC Stadium on Saturday afternoon will not be an easy trip either, Hull have improved of late – their last two home wins have proved particularly solid especially the 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

At various points in the year it looks like Phil Brown and Hull would be parting company but maybe, just maybe they are about to demonstrate the value of sticking with a manager and working through a club’s problems to achieve a final goal, rather than the constant chopping and changing that appears to be the fashion in football these days.

Hull are starting to demonstrate a toughness in their play and City as an odds on chance away from home offer very little appeal, so given the above comments we need to find a way to support Hull.

The Asian Handicap offers us a way to do this and supporting Hull with half a goal start would give us a return if Hull win or draw the game, taking the past history of this fixture that would not be unlikely, 2-2 was the score here last year and Hull were only one of three sides to take away a point from City this year in a one all stalemate.

Clearly, Hull could win the game but using the Asian Handicap gives us that little bit of leeway to support a side that could cause an upset against an odds on away side – very few Premier League sides actually deserve to be odds on away from home apart from the Big 3.

Hull with half a goal start at 2.16 is the suggestion in a game which looks closer than the bare statistics make it seem.
