Wayne Rooney insists he has no intentions of leaving Manchester United, despite being flattered at interest in him from Spanish rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The England international striker has helped fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo’s £80million departure to Real Madrid last summer by firing 19 Premier League goals so far this term.
As a result Real are looking to reunite Rooney with Ronaldo, while Spanish and European champions Barca are also though to want the 24-year-old.
However Rooney insists he is enjoying life with top-of-the-table United as they look to clinch the title for a fourth successive time.
He told United’s official website: “There’s always speculation, and when other big teams are talking about you, it’s nice that you’re talked about.
“But as I’ve said many times before, I’m a United player and I’m very happy here.”
On his ambitions for United, Rooney added: “I hope we can win the title again this year.
“We’ve won the league the last three years and nobody has ever won it four times in a row. We want to create history.
“The title race is much tighter this year and it’s probably more exciting for the neutrals or fans around the country. But we’re hoping that now we are top we can go on and remain there for the rest of the season.”
