Birmingham manager Alex McLeish believes he must protect his squad from becoming complacent after their recent run of good form.
Blues are unbeaten in nine games, during which time they enjoyed a run of five straight wins, and are now 12 points above the relegation zone.
Sunday's 1-1 draw with Everton saw Birmingham retain seventh spot in the Premier League as the St Andrews outfit continue to defy the critics following their promotion from the Championship last season.
Birmingham's run of good form has coincided with the arrival of new owner Carson Yeung, who is set to invest up to £40million in the squad during the next transfer window as he looks to make them an established Premier League side.
While McLeish believes not even the new owners would have predicted such a promising start he says he won't allow the squad to become complacent as he looks to maintain their rise up the table.
"I have spoken to Carson and the other people at the club and they are delighted," said McLeish.
"They couldn't have foreseen us getting such a return of points (28) in their short tenure so far. I think we have exceeded their expectations.
"We know you're just around the corner from getting a kick where it hurts in this game and we've just got to challenge ourselves to prevent that happening.
"The level of individual performance has been high and, if the players keep providing the application you are seeing, then I will be delighted."
