Portsmouth will make a fresh loan swoop for Tottenham midfielder Jamie O'Hara after their transfer embargo was removed by the Premier League.
Pompey were prevented from making signings and registering new players since October after concerns over unpaid football debts, including fees owed to Italian outfit Udinese for Sulley Muntari who has since left Fratton Park.
However after coming to an arrangement over payments, basement club Portsmouth now have under a week to bolster their squad with loan players or free transfers as they aim to stave off relegation this season.
Boss Avram Grant is thought to have a list of targets and it appears that 23-year-old O'Hara, who has spent the first half of the season at Fratton Park, will now return after the embargo prevented him extending the loan earlier in January.
Pompey chief executive Peter Storrie told BBC Radio 5Live: "(The announcement) is major news, it means we can can do something between now and the end of the window.
"It's a boost for Avram, a boost for the team and the supporters.
"We're looking to bring in two or three players, ideally four if we can and that would include bringing Jamie O'Hara back, which is our first priority now.
"If we can bring in three or four we believe we have a chance of staying up."
