Martin O'Neill has warned Aston Villa fans not to expect an influx of new signings in the January transfer window. A 1-0 win over Stoke on Saturday meant the Villa Park outfit kept hold of fourth spot in the Premier League to remain on course for Champions League football next season. Reports had suggested the ambitious Irishman would look to buy from a position of strength in the New Year, but O'Neill has revealed he has not discussed the possibility of signing new players with owner Randy Lerner. "At this minute I wouldn't see us being active in bringing players in over January," he told the Daily Star Sunday. "Things change - but as we speak I don't think we'll be bringing people in unless somebody has left the club. "I know it is only round the corner, and January is a long month, but I have not had any discussions with the owner about what we might do." O'Neill admitted he may consider allowing some of his fringe players to leave the club on loan in January, but only on his terms. He added: "There's obviously interest in quite a number of my players, but I'd be loathe to see too many leave."
