Premier League Preview – Gameweek 36

April 22, 2010 16:04 · 1 comment

The Premier League continues to bring on the action and excitement this weekend as the season nears its end.

Saturday sees current second-placed Manchester United against fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford. Both sides know that this is a must-win game following their respective results against Manchester City and Chelsea last weekend that re-opened both the title race and the battle for fourth spot.

Later on Saturday, third-placed Arsenal take on fifth-placed Manchester City at Emirates Stadium. The Gunners have suffered a bad past few weeks having crashed out of the Champions League and having their title dreams ended for another season following back to back league defeats. The Citizens have already beaten Arsenal twice this season in league and cup matches, but both of those matches were at home. It has been 35 years since City last managed to win away at Arsenal.

Sunday sees Chelsea against Stoke City at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea know that three more wins will bring them a third Premier League title, but some of their nervous performances in recent weeks suggest that this could be a trickier task than it may seem to be. The Blues have a strong recent record against Stoke, winning their last six league games against the Midlanders, but two of Stoke’s three away wins this season have come in the capital, so they will not be shying away from the metropolitan surrounds at Stamford Bridge.
