Having scored five goals in his last four games, Russian Roman Pavyluchencko is favourite to start alongside him but midfielders Aaron Lennon, Tom Huddlestone, Jermaine Jenas and David Bentley are all out. Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce will be hoping to finally give a debut to Turkish star Yildiray Basturk after signing him in January’s transfer window.

Quick Check

Tottenham Hotspurs

Roman Pavyluchenko has scored five goals in his last four games.

Expert Advice

After flattering to deceive for so many seasons, Tottenham have shown they are capable of consistency this campaign and will be hungry for victory at White Hart Lane to maintain their push for a first-ever Champions League place. Harry Redknapp has the happy problem of trying to fit three in-form strikers into two places but injuries have not been kind to the Spurs boss in other areas of his team which will give encouragement to the visitors. If the game was at Blackburn, Sam Allardyce’s side would fancy their chances but Rovers are painfully short of confidence and form on the road, so Betsson’s odds of 2.12 for a home win by two goals or more looks a sound bet.
Black Cats leading scorer Darren Bent returned to form with a bang against Bolton and the home team have more than enough talent to cause City problems at the back. The visitors will be in confident mood, though, after their excellent result at Chelsea and will be further boosted by the return of Patrick Vieira in midfield. A tight clash looks on the cards and Betsson’s odds of 3.25 for a draw appears a sound bet.
That was before their four-star performance in the second half, though, and they will carry plenty of momentum forward into the clash at the Britannia Stadium. In John Carew, they have a striker who loves facing Stoke and the Norwegian showed his well-being with a hat-trick last week. The Potters are likely to be as hard to break down as ever on home soil but this is their third game in a week and there could be some tired legs in their side. With this in mind, an away win at Betsson’s odds of 2.25 appears a sound bet.
Roy Hodgson’s side are chasing an unlikely third successive victory against the league champions and arrive at Old Trafford in good form but both of their previous wins have been achieved at home and a trip to the Reds is a far harder proposition, especially with Wayne Rooney in such rampant form. United have been close to unbeatable at home this year, as shown by their humiliation of AC Milan in midweek, and Betsson’s odds of 5.75 for a 3-0 home win appears a sound bet.
He will be confident of victory, though, against a Portsmouth side who lie well adrift at the bottom of the table with relegation an almost certain formality – and who haven’t won at Anfield for 59 years.

Quick Check

The Reds suffered a shock defeat to the south-coast strugglers in December but that was when they were really out of form and it’s difficult to see Pompey gaining their first win at Anfield for more than 50 years. Portsmouth could score but Rafa Benitez’s men will be anxious to finish a poor week on a winning note and a home win by two goals looks a sound bet at Betsson’s odds of 1.61.
They could be boosted by the return in defence of Sol Campbell and William Gallas but captain Cesc Fabregas is still out for the clash against the relegation-threatened Tigers, who have Craig Fagan available again after suspension as they search for only a second league win in their last 15 league games.

Quick Check

Hull City

Craig Fagan is available again after a one-match ban.

Brazilian star Geovanni is poised to return to the starting line-up after making a full recovery from a knee injury.

Expert Advice

An emphatic victory in Europe in midweek will mean that Arsenal will arrive at the KC Stadium in buoyant mood. The Gunners should be bolstered at the back by the return of key players and they will be a warm order to record a ninth win in ten matches against the Tigers. Hull will know they have to start taking points from their home games if they are to avoid the drop but, with Arsenal’s speed of thought, pace and movement, they look likely to struggle here and a 3-1 away victory at Betsson’s odds of 11.05 appears a value bet.

It’s not been the easiest couple of weeks for Chelsea but last weekend’s FA Cup win over Stoke could prove to be one of the most important yet in the Blues’ season. Carlo Ancelotti’s side surrendered their 15-month unbeaten run in their last home league game but they put that setback behind them last week and confidence will have been restored as they try to keep pace with Manchester United. West Ham are still a difficult team to predict but their form remains poor on the road and it’s hard to see that changing at Stamford Bridge. With this in mind, a home win by two goals or more at Betsson’s price of 1.62 looks a sound bet.
Burnley were always expected to struggle this season but the wins have really dried up in 2010. They do appear to have two things in their favour though as they prepare to host Wolves – they have home advantage and they are still scoring goals. Steven Fletcher’s return in attack will be a further boost against the visitors who are really struggling to find the back of the net and, with this in mind, Betsson’s odds of 3.8 for a home win by one goal looks a sound bet.
Wigan have had their problems holding on to a lead this season but Monday’s victory against Liverpool will have given them huge confidence of putting together an unbeaten run. Saturday’s game is the fourth in a row for Bolton against their relegation rivals and the midweek defeat against Sunderland was a setback. But, prior to Tuesday, the Trotters have been a lot tighter at the back and they are a lot stronger at home than on the road. Arteta showed his well-being with two goals against Hull last weekend and the Toffees will arrive at St Andrews quietly optimistic of a good result. Birmingham look likely to represent tougher opposition than Hull, especially with their home record, but the visitors are in good form at the moment and Betsson’s odds of 4.05 for an away win by one goal appears a value bet.
