Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed he will not be looking to sign Matthew Upson of West Ham in the January transfer window. The White Hart Lane boss made his admission on the same day he revealed Jonathan Woodgate is still "a long, long way" from returning from a serious groin injury. Reports had suggested Redknapp would look to bring in England centre-back Upson from the relegation-threatened Hammers, which would enable Gianfranco Zola to free up funds for his own reinforcements. However, Redknapp said he will not be looking to strengthen his defence despite confirming full-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto also looks likely to miss most of January because of a groin strain. He said: "He's a good player but I've got good defenders at the club. "We keep getting linked with players but were not looking to do anything to be honest."
