Star Liverpool duo Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard both have a chance of facing Birmingham at Anfield on Monday night. Spain striker Torres has been playing through the pain barrier with a groin injury and jetted to Valencia to consult a specialist for a second opinion after visiting a hospital in Liverpool on Thursday. The 25-year-old is now back on Merseyside and will train over the weekend along with talismanic captain Gerrard, who has not featured since he was forced off after 25 minutes of the home Champions League defeat to Lyon on October 20. Neither player has yet been ruled out yet ahead of the visit of the Blues as Liverpool look for their first win in three games in all competitions. Torres and Gerrard will both also be keen to be fit for their respective countries’ forthcoming international games if possible. Spain play Argentina at the home of Torres’ former club, Atletico Madrid, on November 14 while England are in action against Brazil in Qatar on the same day.
