Sorensen agrees Stoke contract terms

Denmark goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen has revealed he has agreed terms on a new two-year contract extension at Stoke.

The 33-year-old arrived at the Britannia Stadium on a free transfer from Aston Villa in the summer of 2008 and has gone on to be a key man for manager Tony Pulis.

“I just need to sign it. It’s great that it’s sorted out and I can focus on the future here at Stoke because it looks very bright,” Sorensen told BBC Radio Stoke.

Sorensen joins the likes of midfielders Glenn Whelan, Liam Lawrence and striker Ricardo Fuller in committing his future to the club.

Stoke officials also hope to get England Under-21 defender Ryan Shawcross tied to a new and improved contract.

“Obviously you need to perform and give something to the club, but then at the same time it’s nice to be rewarded,” added Sorensen.

“It’s a good club and it shows that if you do well, you get the rewards for it.”
