Pavlyuchenko availability alerts Liverpool

Unsettled striker Roman Pavlyuchenko has finally demanded a move away from Tottenham in the January transfer window and could make a shock loan switch to Liverpool.

The Russia international continues to be frustrated with his lack of first-team action at White Hart Lane this season and wants showdown talks with boss Harry Redknapp over his future, with Liverpool hovering.

Russia take on Slovenia in the play-offs to decide who will make the World Cup in South Africa next summer but Pavlyuchenko, who is also interesting Roma, may not make the squad if they qualify as his lack of action hampers his chances.

He has decided enough is enough, and said: “I want to leave the club.”

“It is impossible to remain there under the circumstances I find myself in. I have been sitting on the subs’ bench for half a year and as a result lost a place in the starting 11 of the national team.

“And now hopefully we will get to the World Cup – who will rely on a forward who does not play? I want to play and not just warm the bench.”

Pavlyuchenko’s imminent availability has alerted Reds boss Rafa Benitez, who needs some experienced back-up to Fernando Torres at Anfield and he is being tipped to launch a surprise loan bid for the unhappy frontman in the new year.
