Redknapp not ruffled by Keane sceptics

Harry Redknpp has denied suggestions out-of-favour striker Robbie Keane is trying to engineer a January move from Tottenham.

The Republic of Ireland international has fallen behind Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch in the pecking order at White Hart Lane this season and his body language when substituted in 12 of his 17 starts has fuelled speculation he could be leaving the top-four hopefuls.

Aston Villa and Celtic have been credited with an interest in the 29-year-old, but Redknapp has insisted he has not been approached about Keane.

Redknapp also said he had not seen anything from Keane – the alleged ringleader of a secret Christmas party – to suggest he was looking for a way out of north London.

“If he did he would come and see me, I am sure,” Redknapp said. “Robbie is his own man – he wouldn’t be afraid to knock on my door and say he is not happy here. He would come and see me.

“He wouldn’t try and instigate something behind my back. He is an up-front guy. He would come and talk to me about it. If players think that way you talk to them about it.”
