In the wake of the Blackburn Rovers confirming three cases of swine flu among its squad, Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson has admitted his squad had also been hit by the virus.
"From our point of view you are not going to be a business with quite a few employers where it totally escapes you that you are going to get one or two people with swine flu," he told Sky Sports News.
"I think we have had five, four players and one member of staff. But you try to do your best to avoid it but I would assume that it is nearly impossible.
"When it was first mooted that there was going to be a problem the doctor that we have got and the medical people we have made sure every door you go through we have things where you have to wash your hands.
"We have tried to take on every precaution we can but like I said it is impossible for it not to affect somebody in your organisation but there is nothing you can do."
Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce confirmed three members of his squad are already suffering from the virus, bringing the reported total cases at the club to five.
The highly contagious illness has already resulted in a cancellation of a fixture in France between PSG and Marseille, with the PSG players immediately quarantined as a result.
While Megson admitted some of his squad had already contracted the virus, he also stated that they had all now fully recovered.
The Trotters travel to Chelsea on Wednesday for their League Cup clash.
