Aston Villa captain Stiliyan Petrov will miss his side's game against Bolton on Saturday due to suspension, after picking up a yellow card against West Ham on Wednesday - his fifth booking of the season.
Last season, players who picked up a fifth yellow card had seven days before a suspension came into effect, but now any ban imposed is immediate.
The Villa skipper will join defender Habib Beye on the sidelines after the full-back was sent off for two bookable offences at Upton Park, forcing Villa boss Martin O'Neill to make a number of changes for the game against the Trotters.
O'Neill also has doubts over striker Emile Heskey, winger James Milner, and midfielder Craig Gardner for the Bolton game due to injuries, although Carlos Cuellar returns from suspension.
Nigel Reo-Coker could move into midfield in Petrov's absence, after he came on as a substitute against West Ham - although he has not started a league game since his training ground spat with O'Neill in September.

John Carew performance was fantastic for Aston Villa in their awesome result against a demoralized Bolton Wanderers and when that many goals go in the back of your net there really isnt that much you can do to pick yourself up. For Aston Villa it as definitely got their European course of action back on track. The Norwegian international set up goals for the likes of, Ashley Young, Gabriel Agbonlahor and James Milner and to put the cherry on the cake, knocked one in himself. Okey the pebatly was lucky but they were never going to be denied the win. . And so was Cuellar’s defending just brilliant at that back. Bolton did make a few saves but when you are under attack like that the keeper needs some massive support and the score shows he didnt really have it.
