Arsene Wenger has confirmed luckless Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs will be out of action for three months because of a broken foot.
The young left-back was making his first return from a foot injury on Tuesday in the Champions League against Standard Liege when he suffered a broken metatarsal.
The news means World Cup hopeful Gibbs joins first-choice full-back Gael Clichy, who is out with a stress fracture to his back, on the sidelines.
Armand Traore could replace Gibbs in defence for Sunday's Premier League showdown with London rivals Chelsea at Emirates Stadium.
Wenger said: "Kieran had surgery and the surgeon gave us a good report that he did not need any metal in his foot.
"The first metatarsal is broken, which is very rare. He will be out for at least three months."
