Gianfranco Zola has said he is confident relegation-threatened West Ham will be able to keep hold of star players such as Carlton Cole, Matthew Upson and Robert Green during the January transfer window. Reports have suggested injured striker Cole, key centre-back Upson and goalkeeper Green could be offloaded this month to help ease the financial burden at the Boleyn and free up funds for Zola to bring in his own reinforcements. Cole has been the subject of interest from Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool but has insisted he wants to stay at Upton Park, while Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp recently denied reports suggesting he was keen on Upson. Fellow World Cup hopeful Green could also be up for grabs if the Hammers need to sell, but Zola is optimistic he can keep all of his crown jewels. "Bringing somebody in would be nice, but I hope that the team at least remains the same, that is the most important thing, because when we have everybody back, it is going to be a different story," said Zola. He added: "Everybody knows the financial situation. "I am not expecting to have anybody leaving. If it will change, I do not know, but I am hoping not."
